Analysis

Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich, talks about offering Obama's Senate seat to Oprah. This, by the way, is the same seat he stands accused of trying to auction off. Surprisingly though, for the most part, Blagojevich is believable regarding the debate surrounding the Oprah offer.

The Believability Meter doesn't buy his claim that the idea was suggested by a "friend" though. Which is not surprising. Who else, but "Hot" Rod, the ringmaster of the media circus surrounding his own trial on corruption charges, could think of offering Oprah a Senate seat, and then still say with a straight face that he wasn't looking for a "cheap headline?"

Rod Blagojevich was arrested on federal corruption charges including conspiracy on mail and wire fraud. The trial has finished for Illinois governor <a title="Only one guilty verdict given to Rod Blagojevich"href="http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2010/08/17/blagojevich-verdict/">Rod Blagojevich</a>. After two weeks of deliberation, the grand jury returned only a single guilty verdict. Blagojevich was only convicted of one count of lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There hasn’t been sentencing yet, although five years might be given because of the false statements the government received from him. Federal prosecutors have already announced they fully intend to re-try Blagojevich.
