Analysis

House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi (D-California), gives a video interview with George Stephanopoulis about the proposed $900 billion stimulus package currently being debated in Congress. Right away Pelosi denies a recent Congressional Budget Office report that claims less than 40% of the money would even be spent within 18 months of the bill's passage.

But watch the Believability Meter when Pelosi is asked about legislators' commitment to spending 75% of the stimulus money within that first 18 months. She says "we're commtted to that," but the Believability Meter says she's leaving herself room to maneuver. Of course, it's tough to believe that the same politicians that brought us the current financial mess are the ones in charge of handing out $900 billion dollars to fix it, but it sure would be nice to get a check. Where's your bailout?
