Analysis

Lee Harvey Oswald gave this video interview to the press just hours after he is accused of having shot and killed President John F. Kennedy. Oswald claims that he does not know what is going on or why he has been arrested. During the course of the interview he seems remarkably clam for someone who has just assassinated the leader of the free world.

Although the Believability Meter is yellow for much of the time Oswald is talking, at no point does it go to red, which, given the circumstances, would be very surprising if he had just shot the President. Specifically, when he claims that the first he heard about his being charged with JFK's murder was just moments before the press conference, the Believability Meter backs up his claim of ignorance by staying green. Makes you wonder how Oswald managed to be arrested so quickly in the first place. So if it wasn't Lee Harvey Oswald, who shot JFK?

I find this interview very interesting . I am a 57 year old high school history teacher who has read many many books on the Kennedy assassination. I still have doubts. In particular I have never seen or read any of the interrogation notes on Oswald by the Dallas police during the 36 hours he was in custody. I do think he shot from the depository but also believe there is something to his claim of being a "patsy".
