Analysis

Perhaps the most surprising part of this video clip where Enron's Kenneth Lay professes his innocence, is the former CEO's apparent sincerity. Lay says he still believe that he is innocent, and the Believability Meter shows that he is being honest, although in the case of Enron and Lay's fraud conviction, it's hard to see how the assessment of guilt could be subjective.

Ironically, the only time the Believability Meter registers a questionable statement is when Lay claims he is a "lucky man" because of the "beautiful lady" to his left that also happens to be his wife. Note the grimace. Lay then says that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. Months after this video clip Lay died of a heart attack just before he was likely to be sentenced to spend the rest of his life in jail. Now, because of his death, it seems a lawsuit to recover millions from Lay's estate to mitigate losses by Enron's defrauded investors and employees will be unable to proceed. Who was that good for?

I don't think your system does what you hope it does.
