Analysis

Joe Torre, manager of the New York Yankees for 12 seasons, gives a video interview to Michael Eisner to discuss Torre's former boss, Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. Steinbrenner is legendary around the league and in the media for his passionate, often controversial, outbursts regarding players, coaches, reporters, even family members.

As Torre notes here though, Steinbrenner's fire has dimmed somewhat in recent years, paralleling a similar decline in the Yankees' playoff performance since their last championship in 2001. Ultimately the drop in productivity led to the ouster of Torre as manager though, as the Believability Meter shows, Torre maintains an appreciation and respect for the owner with whom he won four world series titles. According to his recent book, Torre's memories of A-Rod were less fond. Stay tuned for more on that as their public dispute is likely to get messy. Do you think the way the Yankees treated Torre was fair?
