In this videotaped speech one day before the embattled Illinois governor was arrested on federal corruption charges, Rod Blagojevich dares anyone who wants to tape his conversations to "feel free to do it." The Believability Meter doesn't buy Blagojevich's cavalier attitude when he says there is no cloud hanging over his administration.
Watch later when Blagojevich is asked about former chief of staff, John Wyman. The governor seems to really believe that Wyman is considering a suit against the Chicago Tribune for defamation, apparently oblivious to the fact that Wyman is already working closely with federal investigators. It's not hard to see that cutting a deal was in Wyman's best interest, considering the Believability Meter goes red as soon as Blagojevich claims Wyman always acted "ethically" and "follows the rules."
Blagojevich's tenure has been little more than an endless string of scandals. Mostly involving corruption charges against close confidantes. Even in a state home to Chicago's infamous machine politics, it's tough to believe this guy was re-elected. Did you vote for him?
