Analysis

Governor Sarah Palin responds to allegations she dismissed one of her Alaskan cabinet members for not firing her ex-brother-in-law (who was an Alaskan State Trooper).  She displays a calm demeanor and states she welcomes questions about this issue.  The Believability Meter generally agrees with her comments and only spikes in a few places.  Two of them appear to be generalities including a reference on taking the department in a "new direction" (1:03) as well as a vague reference to the time of the actual divorce (1:17).

The one comment that does raise an eyebrow, however, is when she broadly states that "I look forward to any investigation or questions being asked because got nothing to hide." (0:30)  Well, everyone in politics has something to hide and the Meter highlights that she could be thinking about something beyond Troopergate.  Less than 24 hours after we originally posted this analysis Palin revealed the pregnancy of her 17 year old daughter, Bristol.  Could that have been what she was hiding or is there more to come?  Stay tuned.

This is excellent. At 0:05 when she says a couple of lawmakers were not happy with the decision and it's off the charts

Her reveal about her daughter's pregnancy was the tail wagging the dog.... attention away from her inappropriate firing to something she knows will distract from that. She also knows there will be moral outrage that anyone is criticizing her daughter, so she ends up the victim. Although quite transparent, politically saavy, but the problem with making it a 'win-win for McCain Palin is that Palin is willing to sacrific her daughter's well being for her own political gain. Really can't imagine being 17 unmarried and pregnant and having to bear this kind of scrutiny. Oh -- perhaps Gov Palin didn't REALIZE that her daughter would be in the spotlight. Yeah -- that's believable.

Very interesting that she has "nothing to hide" but the meter goes red. I wonder how she'll do as the campaign drags on. Are you going to analyze the upcoming debate?

Palin's nose should be even longer than Pinocchio because while she uses her own kids for political purposes, she says that talking about them is off limits. She wants it both ways.

Man, thank God I saw this. She really is honest. Well, I knew it all the time. Its a shame that all the haters try so hard to make her look bad. But I guess thats people and politics for you.. Mc Cain/Palin 2008 !!

Wow! A politician that talks "Green" on RealScoop is a treat!

I can see it now, President Palen presents Doily-gate! "Can the Russians see through your living room window like mine? Well, we don't want a bad impression, do we? That's why I use Polar bear doilies. Make use of all those pesky dying polar bears, and create the warmest doilies. Your Russian visitors will love the look and the feel. Look, no vodka drink rings."

WOW! just maybe she brought up the pg fact, becaues she knew the almighty media was hot on her familys trail and wanted to cut them off at the path, and tell the story in truth rather then fiction. Let's face it don't we all have a little something we hold private, don't turn RED!!

Nobody on the planet could say "I have nothing to hide" and stay in the green. Her believability scores better than ANY of the other major candidates. Is this the "inexperience" everyone is concerned about? She hasn't been around long enough to know to lie incessantly? It that really our main concern? She would do better to drop McCain and run on her own!

I'd like to put the whole Obama debate on with Mccain when McCain brings up ayers and wright and Farakhan and he says he isn't personally connected to them.

It is nice to see and here, over and over, truth and lies and how people feel about what is being scooped. It is also nice to read comments how different people feel about whether the truth is being said or not. Gov. Sarah Palin is very refreshing, honest and I will support her in the future. Since Liberal Lover McCain's campaign is now telling some lies and truth about Gov. Palin, it is also refreshing to here she has a temper and shows her emotions.

She has been cleared! Her words don't matter.

Oh Heaven help us. I hope we haven't ruined her. It's such a rarity to have a gem like her that really wants to serve the people. Wake up people, there's a pretty ugly world out there.
