Analysis

New Mexico Governor, Bill Richardson, explains the decision to withdraw his nomination as Barack Obama's Secretary of Commerce. In this video, Richardson says that he made the decision to withdraw because of a corruption investigation, but he has "faith in the criminal justice process" to clear him of any wrongdoing.

The Believability Meter says Richardson may not be as confident as he claims. Perhaps for good reason, too. After casting doubt on Richardson's faith in the courts, watch how the Believability Meter then reacts when the governor claims he and his staff acted "appropriately" during the circumstances in question. Do you think Gov. Richardson should have left Obama's cabinet just because of a little criminal investigation? Tell us.
