Analysis

George W. Bush gives an exit interview to Larry King and talks about who knew what and when prior to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Bush also addresses the lingering allegations that his administration engaged in the torture of detainees in order to get information to conduct the war on terror.

The Believability Meter says that George W. Bush knew more than he claims prior to 9/11. When Bush says "we didn't know anything," the Believability Meter goes red right away. Interestingly though, when Bush says that "we don't torture" the Believability Meter stays green. Of course that may just be because the former commander in chief doesn't think a little waterboarding or naked pyramid building qualifies as torture. Does interrogation have to be painful to be torture? Should the U.S. government even trust information gleaned from terrorists?
