Analysis

Ben Bernanke on Capitol Hill claiming innocence with regard to charges he pressured Bank of America to acquire Merrill Lynch last December. There are several points when the Believability Meter seems to think that Bernanke is covering something up, especially when he tries to explain what he told Ken Lewis, Bank of America's CEO. In any event, the deed is done and dragging Ben Bernanke up in front of a Congressional panel won't bring back the housing market or your job. But Congress needs some way to earn their hefty salaries. Do you think Ben Bernanke forced the sale to go through?
